Where are we?

What happens if it rains?
We get ourselves dressed up in our all in one rain suits and we head outside. The trees on site will provide shelter and we can also put up tarpaulins and make shelters.
Failing that, if the weather is getting too bad for too long, we will head to our outdoor classroom to get warm by the fire and drink hot chocolate, whilst listening to stories and carrying on our activities.

Most definitely! All activities that can take place inside can take place outdoors and because of the space and the high ratio of dedicated staff, your child will gain an enthusiasm to learn through many different activities.
Mathematics will be learnt through sorting and collecting, forces and estimation through den building; literacy through discussion and team work.
Not forgetting games, rhymes and story telling.
Can you meet the early years curriculum outdoors?
Will my child be school ready if they attend an outdoor nursery?
To be ready for school a child needs to be independent, have resilience and have good social skills that will enable them to make friends at school.
By attending an outdoor kindergarten not only will your child have met the requirements set out in the Early Years foundation as they would have done in a traditional nursery, but they will also have the all the skills and foundation required by their new teachers to be able to settle in well and learn at their new school
Please read our preparing your child for school

How will you keep my child safe?
The kindergarten is set within an existing school grounds, and completely surrounded on most sides with 1.8 m fencing. We are also installing fencing around the area that we are using so children cannot inadvertently wander off in to the rest of the school.
All staff will hold an enhanced DBS that we can check regularly online.
All activities are risk assessed
We adapt are activities according to the weather and in high winds can seek the sanctuary of the classroom
